Opening partnerships lead to strong Sri Lankan reply after Stirling, Campher centuries
On the second day of the Test match, Ireland’s Paul Stirling and allrounder Curtis Campher both scored their first Test hundreds, leading Ireland to their highest ever Test score of 492 by tea.
Sri Lanka’s openers managed to reach 81 without loss by the end of the day, but they will need to score big to put pressure on Ireland. Prabath Jayasuriya was the star bowler for Sri Lanka, taking five wickets for 174 runs in his 26.3 overs. Despite the strong performance by Stirling and Campher, Ireland’s tail collapsed quickly.
