Jayasuriya five stuns Ireland after SL scored 591
On the second day of the Test match in Galle, Sri Lanka dominated Ireland with impressive performances from Dinesh Chandimal and Sadeera Samarawickrama, who both scored unbeaten centuries. Prabath Jayasuriya also shone by taking five wickets in just 19 overs before the end of the day’s play. Ireland are currently in a difficult position, trailing by 474 runs with only three wickets remaining in the first innings.
The pitch has also started to show significant signs of turning, making it even more challenging for Ireland to make a comeback. This was always going to be a tough challenge for Ireland, who have never played a Test match in Galle and are playing their first two-Test series. They will have to fight hard to avoid a defeat within three days. Jayasuriya was the standout performer of the day, using his skills to generate drift, dip and turn to trouble the Irish batters.
